The location of this project makes it a somewhat hidden wonder. Whilst it is possible to get views of the property from some areas of the coast path, in the main, it is a secluded property nestled into the middle of the coastal village – Hope Cove.
The Challenges
The main challenge with this project was the curved facade. Although the main feature for this property, it was proving difficult for the clients to find a suitable product that would offer longevity and be reliable. With recommendations from friends and their experienced builders – Oakleigh Design and Build (https://www.oakleighdesignbuild.co.uk/ ) the clients decided to approach Green Circle and see if we could come up with a bespoke solution for their design.
With our experience, we were aware that curved doors don’t tend to perform very well, and the last thing we wanted to do was sell them a problem !
The clients knew that they wanted the elevation to have openable doors and so it was really important for us to find a way to do this without compromising design…
The Solutions
We explored the options, with the clients, and came to the conclusion that we would create the curved look, but without actually using any curved doors. ‘How is that possible?’ we hear you ask…
The solution was to facet the doors so as to give a curved appearance. With careful planning from our surveying team, they managed to create a design that was so good, you’d be forgiven if you thought it was actually curved !
This meant that they were still able to utilise all of the usual Green Circle quality stainless hardware and locking mechanisms, ensuring the security of their home. The team worked with the different trades on-site to make for a smooth and easy installation with top quality workmanship.
Throughout the home, they used several of our systems including our Premium Bifolding Doors, Premium Plus Sliding Doors, Premium Casement Windows, Premium Screening System and Premium Entrance Doors.
The Results
The project has been completed to an exceptionally high standard! The curved facade is definitely a showstopper and is always a talking point for their visitors.
With extensive landscaping complete, this contemporary home gives the clients an idyllic retreat to relax whilst enjoying the peaceful views of the picturesque Devon coastline.
