Our History

Read our history timeline… a few highlights from our past ventures:

May 1975

The Origins
Roy Greeno, a time served master joiner left his job as a senior draughtsman in Devonport dockyard to start his own Joinery business manufacturing aluminium and timber windows in the basement of his house in Gleneagle Road, Plymouth. Roy’s motto right from the start was ‘No salesmen, just craftsmen who care for your home’

1981

Willow Court Premises
The business relocates to a workshop and retail outlet in Willow Court (near to Plymouth Ski Slope) manufacturing Aluminium Windows.

1985

Brookingfield Close Premises
The organisation moves again, this time to a larger premises in Brookingfield Close, Plympton.
The business continues to manufacture aluminium windows, and introduces cutting edge PVC frames to its product line. A youthful Chris Wickes joins the team as the company expands.

1987

Showroom On Wheels
The Green Circle mobile showroom was launched for a limited time only! Before the realms of the online world, this room on wheels allowed the team to exhibit a large product like windows and doors in the comfort of the client’s driveway, which was really beneficial to elderly and less mobile clients.

1992

Purpose Built Manufacturing Facilities
The company buy a site and build a new purpose-built manufacturing facility in Darklake Close, Estover. Under Roy’s careful guidance, the team continue to manufacture PVC windows, alongside aluminium roof systems.

1999

New Partner
Roy’s son Kim Greeno becomes a partner in the company, and a few years later Kim takes over as the organisation’s Principal Director. Using his experience and natural technical flair; Kim starts to turn the business into a major manufacturing facility producing high-quality aluminium folding doors, sliding doors, windows and entrance doors

2010

New Roof
We upgraded and had a thermally efficent roof installed on our current building. This helped control the indoor climate making better working conditions all year round for our staff, in addition to making us more energy efficent.

2012

Limited Company is Formed
Green Circle Joinery is incorporated and becomes a limited company trading as Green Circle Bespoke Glazing Ltd.

2012

First CNC Machine
Green Circle invested in their first ever CNC machine. We were the first people in the South West to have one of these in our facility, and this began to revolutionise our manufacturing process.

2015

Energy Efficient Upgrades to the Building / Landscaping
In an effort to become more environmentally sustainable, we upgraded all of our light fittings to energy saving LED’s. Further to this, we underwent extensive landscaping around the unit, in order to encourage natural species of the surrounding woodland to use the space as their habitat.

2016

New Warehouse Building
As the business grew and expanded, we needed further storage space. This resulted in the erection of our purpose-built warehouse facility, in which we are able to store thousands of pounds worth of stock, allowing us to offer quick turnaround times for all our clients.

2016

Upgraded Fleet
We upgraded our fleet with the addition of box vans and trailer mounted frail carriers to enable us to safely deliver much larger pre assembled products to site.

2018

New CNC
As technology moved on it was time to invest in a new updated CNC Machine. This would ensure that we stayed at the top of our leauge, consistently providing exceptional quality products.

2019

Showroom and Exterior Window Upgrade
A major renovation to our building - we replaced all of the exterior window systems, to allow our customers to fully appreciate the ‘Green Circle’ feel when visiting our premises.

2020

New Aluminium Cutting Centre
In 2020, we invested in a brand-new, state of the art CNC Cutting and Machining Centre. This helped to futureproof the business and allows us to maintain accuracy, whilst streamlining the manufacturing process.

2020

Car Park Extension
To further facilitate the large vehicles that regularly come to drop off profile etc., and to increase client parking, we underwent a carpark extension giving us more than 500 square metres of additional yard space.

Whatever the next 47 years hold, we’re determined to stay true to the values instilled by Roy Greeno at the very start… almost 5 decades ago.
